Junious has been at Hampton Plaza for a year, along with his wife Emma. Junious has been retired since 2000 after working for Baltimore Transit for 30 years. He enjoys the perk from his job that allows him to travel at no charge on all county buses. His prior job was working for American Smelting and Refining Company.
Junious was born in Oxford, North Carolina, which is 30 miles from Raleigh. He was one of 12 children, although only 9 survived. His father worked as a sharecropper before moving the family to Baltimore, where he found work as a longshoreman. This improved the family’s finances. They lived in a house that they rented from Peter Angelos, a very well-known Baltimorean.
Junious has 6 children and 11 grandchildren. His first wife passed away, and Junious and Emma have been happily married for the last 31 years. Emma has 3 children and 8 grandchildren of her own. Every July and August, there are family reunions for both families that Junious looks forward to attending. July 14th, his family will meet for 3 days in New York City for their reunion. In previous years the reunions have been in Fort Myers, Florida, and in South Carolina. On August 14th, Emma’s family will have their family reunion in Aberdeen, MD.
Recently Junious has started working part-time at Safeway as a courtesy clerk. Working 3 days a week is just enough to keep him busy. Emma is a retired nurse but continues to work part-time for the Baltimore Health Department.
We are so happy to have both Emma and Junious at Hampton Plaza. We especially enjoy Junious for his upbeat personality and positive attitude when he visits us in the management office. We hope they remain with us for many years.
