Students are back, temperatures are cooling and soon, the leaves will start to change. September is a gorgeous time in Maryland – and it’s always fun in downtown Towson.
Here’s a look at what’s coming up around town this month:
The Loop Is Coming
Have you heard about Towson Loop? It’s a new, free circulator bus service that will begin operating in the Towson area on Oc. 12.
The Loop’s 12 buses will run from 6 a.m. to midnight on weekdays and 10 a.m. to midnight on Saturdays (no Sunday service). There will be two loops – the north and southbound purple loop and east and westbound orange loop.
Both are very easily accessible from Hampton Plaza Apartments. There are orange and purple loop stops just outside the apartments’ doors – making it easier than ever to quickly (and inexpensively) reach destinations around Towson.
Storytime at the Library
All month long, the Towson branch of the Baltimore Public Library will host outdoor family story times on Tuesday and Thursday mornings at 10:30. The story times are geared towards preschool-aged children (3-5 years old) and take place outdoors, so they will be as safe and COVID-friendly as possible
One more Feet on the Street
Feet on the Street, the outdoor concert series put on by the Towson Chamber of Commerce, was supposed to end on Aug. 27. However, thanks to thunderstorms that evening, the event was canceled. There is good news, though – it will be rescheduled for Sept. 10. Crushing Day is set to perform.
Drag at The Point
The Point in Towson has a pair of fun drag events coming up this month: brunch on Sept. 18 and a comedy show on Sept. 23.
Live music around Towson
C&R Pub
Friday, Sept. 3, Ebb & Nova will pop up at C&R Pub. The band just released an album, Night Sounds – the album release party was at The Recher in mid-August.
Speaking of The Recher – the venue will host lots of great music this month
On Saturday, Sept. 11, the beloved Talking Heads tribute Band Psycho Killers takes the stage.
On Sunday, Sept. 12, The Recher will host Beutler’s ALS Band Bash, a benefit raising funds for the Brigance Brigade Foundation. The event features tons of great acts, including Caleb Stine and a performance by magician Adam Stone.
And on Friday, Sept. 17, RUSH tribute band Sun Dogs will return to The Recher. The band played two sold out shows there last May – so grab tickets early.
Back to Barre
Towne Barre is running a fall back-to-barre special. Now through Labor Day, you can purchase unlimited group classes for three months for $300.
Bend, Brew & Brunch at CVP
Speaking of workouts…on Sept. 12, head to CVP for a yoga and brunch event. Tickets, which are $10, include the hour-long, all-levels yoga class plus one beverage (alcoholic or non-alcoholic) to enjoy along with whatever brunch you choose to order.
Kenyan-Italian Fusion at Café Troia
On Sept. 16, Café Troia will host a special Kenyan-Italian fusion meal to raise funds to support the education of at-risk Kenyan children.
Farmers Market Fun
If you haven’t made it to the Towson Farmer’s Market yet, you still have time – and September is a terrific time for local produce and other goods. The market is every Thursday, from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Allegheny Avenue.
Shop & Win at Towson Town Center
During Sept. and Oct., shop at Towson Town Center and you can enter to win fashion, food and beauty prizes totaling over $20,000 – and grand prize of a two-night trip to Las Vegas.
To enter, head to the mall and find one of the gold Mall Together Sweepstakes signs. Scan the sign’s QR code and enter to try to win. You can enter once a week – so there’s motivation to drop back into the mall frequently.
