Downtown Towson is the Place to be this Fall

Downtown Towson is one of the hottest neighborhoods in the Baltimore region – and this fall, a wide array of events proves it. Hampton Plaza residents are right in the thick of things, too; this month and next, there are tons of fun events within walking distance of the apartment building.

Here are a few items to put on your calendar for this week and beyond:

Final Feet on the Street

Towson Block Party feet on street 2

Friday, Sept. 27 is the final “Feet on the Street” party of 2019. Feet on the Street is a weekly Friday night party and concert held on Allegheny Ave., which is shut down to traffic. The event, which lasts from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m., happens every Friday from late May through the end of September.

Feet on the Street is free to attend and while there, you can buy beer, wine and cocktails from an outdoor bar and enjoy food from local restaurants. People bring lawn chairs and blankets and settle in for the evening. There’s a moon bounce and face painting for kids and – for everyone – live music from a different band each week.

Friday’s act is The Jury, a local rock band that cites Steely Dan, the Beatles, Bruce Springsteen and Stevie Wonder as influences.

Murder Mystery at Cunningham’s

Murder Mystery

On Sunday, Sept. 29, Cunningham’s gets spooky with a Clue-themed murder mystery dinner hosted by Whodunnit for Hire.

The dinner is a fun, interactive murder mystery experience, a takeoff on the board game Clue. It starts at 2 p.m. and lasts until 5 p.m. and the $75 ticket includes a three-course dinner (with entrée options), downloadable photos, and all kinds of fun as you try to figure out who committed the “crime.”

Tickets must be purchased in advance and this is a 21+ event.

If you can’t make the September dinner, don’t worry: a similar event will be back on Oct. 27 and again Nov. 24.

Farmers’ Market Is Going Strong

The Towson Farmer’s Market, which started in early June this year, is still going strong and will continue to operate until Nov. 21. Every Thursday morning, the market takes over Allegheny Ave., (which, as with Feet on the Street, is shut down to traffic for the event).

The market starts around 10:45 a.m. and lasts until 3 p.m. This year, about three dozen vendors are participating, including farm stands like Jones Organic, Lohr’s Orchard and Richfield Farm, food trucks like Mexican on the Run and From the Heart, and food makers like Lancaster Honey, Pat’s Pickles and Ray’s Pork Rinds. Plus, don’t miss Boordy Vineyards and Slate Farm Brewery, among other great options.

WTMD Concert in Olympic Park

Start making your plans now for Oct. 19, when Towson University radio station WTMD hosts its 3rd Annual Rock Block concert in Olympic Park – right in downtown Towson, in front of the station’s building.

The area in front of the WTMD building will be closed to traffic during the event, which is free and is also much more than just a concert. The event features food from several local favorites, including Cunningham’s, The Point in Towson and fun food trucks like Kooper’s Chowhound Burger Wagon, Pasta La Vista Baby and the Taco Bar Food Truck.

There will also be an Art Village, featuring works for sale by local artists, and a Kids Block, with face painting and hair coloring, and bike rides from Race Pace Bicycles.

On the stage, you can catch the DC rock band EX HEX and indie act Jealous of the Birds, among other performances. It’s a big day, with a lot to offer everyone.
