Feel Festive in Downtown Towson this Fall

As the leaves start to fall and our thoughts turn to turkey, pumpkin pie, and even candy canes, there are plenty of ways to celebrate autumn and upcoming holidays in downtown Towson.

Flower Box Fun

Keep an eye out for vibrant flower boxes, painted by six female artists and funded by a Community Legacy Grant given to the Towson Chamber of Commerce. New Café

Keep an eye on the space at 215 Washington Ave. A new café – Hannah’s – is just about to open. The café will be open 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Saturday and from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sundays and will serve breakfast and lunch dishes like avocado toast, bagels, sandwiches and salads.

Farmers Market Winds Down

This month is your last chance to hit the Towson Farmers’ Market until next year. The market, which takes place on Allegheny Avenue every Thursday from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., lasts through November 18 – the Thursday before Thanksgiving. It typically returns in early June.

Library Story Time

The Towson branch of the Baltimore Public Library has a strong story time schedule this month, including a special surprise: a Pizza and Taco story time on Saturday, Nov. 20. The event starts at 10:30 and is geared towards preschoolers.

Thanksgiving Eve

The night before Thanksgiving – Nov. 24 this year – is always one of the biggest and best in Towson. Local spots have plans in the works to make it extra fun this year.

Barley’s Backyard Uptown

At Barley’s Backyard Uptown, the heaters will be on upstairs on the deck and happy hour will be in effect from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.

C&R Pub

At C&R Pub, Sophomore will perform at 9 p.m. the night before Thanksgiving.

CVP

CVP’s crowd will be entertained by Sydney Smith and Nate Finn starting at 6 p.m.

The Point

The Point is throwing a Throwback Thanksgiving Eve party with food and drink specials and ‘80s, ‘90s and ‘00s tunes from DJ Al.

The Recher

If a live music show is more your speed, The Recher has you covered with a 20th year anniversary show from Baltimore’s own The Bridge.

Thanksgiving Day

Barley’s and CVP both open at 7 a.m. on Thanksgiving morning, welcoming all Turkey Bowl-goers for pregame festivities.

Speaking of Barley’s and Thanksgiving, the restaurant is also bringing back last year’s take home or delivered Thanksgiving feast options, including baked turkey or ham, sausage lasagna, and family-sized side dishes.

Weekend Plans

The weekend starting Friday Nov. 19 is shaping up to be a great one around Towson, with music from iconic bands and a big brunch party.

The Recher

It starts Friday night, when ‘90s stars The Samples perform at The Recher.

The Point

Saturday morning, The Point is hosting a “Basic B**** Brunch” starting at 10 a.m. That means pumpkin spice cocktails, “basic” brunch bites, bottomless brunch cocktails and more.

New social recommendations and restrictions put in place to minimize the impact of coronavirus and “flatten the curve” of the disease have changed life as we know it – both inside the walls of Hampton Plaza and all over the world. We’re all taking life one day at a time right now – and we’re all in this together.

Social distancing is strange but it’s also an opportunity to explore new interests and hobbies. Whether you’re a parent with an apartment full of young, active children, a retiree living on your own, or anyone in between, there are plenty of ways to keep yourself occupied during this time. In addition to the usual suspects – watching movies, reading books, cleaning out your pantry, trying to teach your child 4th grade math – we’ve compiled some fun ways to pass the time while you are home:

Black Friday Brunch

The Point

Instead of braving the stores on Black Friday, head to The Point for a fun day-after-Thanksgiving brunch. The event starts at 11 a.m. and includes bottomless drink specials and more.

Santa!

The holiday season is rapidly approaching and Towson Town Center is ready for it.

Santa makes his debut on November 26 – the day after Thanksgiving – and will be available for pictures through Christmas Eve. The mall is also hosting special pet nights with Santa, Monday evenings from November 29 through December 20.

Planning Ahead for the Holidays

Christmas Tree Lighting

Mark your calendar now for December holiday events, including the Baltimore County Christmas tree lighting – with special appearances from Santa, the Grinch and Olaf. The lighting takes place in Olympic Park, on Alleghany Ave., on Friday, Dec. 3.

Several local spots already have Breakfast with Santa plans in the works, as well – so now is the time to buy tickets and make reservations. CVP’s breakfast is on Dec. 4 and Barley’s Backyard Uptown’s breakfast is Dec. 12.
