It’s cold outside but downtown Towson is hot this February. From Valentine’s Day festivities to National Margarita Day, there are tons of events planned throughout the month and into March – and all within easy walking distance of Hampton Plaza Apartments.
Here’s a look at what’s happening in downtown Towson over the next few weeks:
Celebrating Love
Valentine’s Day is Friday, Feb. 14 but local businesses celebrate love all month long.
THB is celebrating all things sweet with a cinna-bagel – a cinnamon sugar bagel with salted caramel drizzle and cinnamon swirl cream cheese – available all month long.
Throughout the month, Stoney River is featuring a special cocktail, the Lady Duchess.
On Wednesday, Feb. 12, Godiva Chocolatier in Towson Town Center will give away free chocolate with a Valentine’s message.
Cunningham’s Café has lots of cute heart-shaped chocolates and cookies available Feb. 12 through Feb. 14.
For Galentine’s Day – the Feb. 13 celebration of ladies – The Point in Towson will offer extended happy hour deals including $4 wines, $5 crushes, $6 cosmos and $20 bottles of bubbles.
Café Troia will be celebrating Galentine’s Day on Feb. 13 and Valentine’s Day on both Feb. 14 and 15. The excellent Italian spot will serve its regular menu but will also have specials created for the holiday.
At C&R Pub, a three-course prix fixe Valentine’s dinner includes choices like a 10-ounce prime rib entrée and a crab dip appetizer.
Wedding Bells
Just in time to celebrate Valentine’s Day engagements, The Sheraton Baltimore North Hotel will host a wedding showcase on Sunday, Feb. 16. The event includes a fashion show, specialty cocktails, hors d’oeuvres and the opportunity to meet a variety of wedding professionals.
Mardi Gras
World of Beer gets the Mardi Gras party going early, with a party on Thursday, Feb. 20. From 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., for every Cigar City or Oskar Blues beer purchased, you’ll get to try to toss beads around the tap handle display. If your beads hit the mark, you’ll win prizes.
Classical Cliffs Notes
On Thursday, Feb. 20, WTMD teams up with Classical Revolution Baltimore for a “Cliffs Notes” style classical show at the WTMD studio at 1 Olympic Place.
The show, dubbed “Classical Music for People with Short Attention Spans,” will explore how different genres of music have influenced classical-style music over the past four centuries. Baltimore artists, including beat-boxer Shodekeh Talifero, will perform.
The show will be broadcast live on WTMD, so even if you can’t make it to the studio, you can listen.
National Margarita Day
Saturday, Feb. 22 is National Margarita Day and – no surprise – Nacho Mama’s is ready to celebrate. All day long, there will be tons of specials, including $5 Nacho’s famous premium hubcap margaritas and Graceland Hubcaps for just $15.
Taste of Asia Tour: Vietnam
Also on Feb. 22, the Towson University Asian Arts & Culture Center will host a food tour of The Bun Shop and Den Da Coffee. The tour will include discussion of how traditional Vietnamese cuisine is blended with international street food at the restaurants and the menu will include some classic dishes served during Tet, the Vietnamese New Year.
Go Green(e)
The Green Towson Alliance will host a social hour at the Greene Turtle on Wednesday, Feb. 26. From 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., head to the Turtle to get to know what the organization does and who’s involved.
Looking Ahead…and Looking Back
Start planning now for next month. On March 7, Baltimore Heritage will host a walking tour of Towson dubbed “From Farmstead Settlement to Booming Suburb.” The history-oriented tour will start at the Towson Courthouse and will last an hour.
