Isabella and Gabriel

We are always so happy to welcome young people to Hampton Plaza. Isabella and Gabriel are an interesting couple. They actually met at Hampton Plaza eight years ago through mutual friends and have been together as partners for the last five years.

Both are graduates of Goucher College. Gabriel was an English major, and Isabella graduated from Goucher’s Peace Studies Program and holds a master’s degree in Conflict Resolution from Brandeis University. Still, in their twenties, they are just formulating what direction their lives will take.

Gabriel is planning to become a Baltimore City teacher. He is fluent in both Spanish and English (having been raised in Puerto Rico) and would like to teach either elementary or middle school. He will get his certification while on the job.

Isabella is currently working for a city councilman. She assists with special projects and constituent services. She also works on zoning laws and methods to end food insecurity in the city.

Isabella and Gabriel both come from very interesting families. Isabella’s father is the president of St. Anselm College. St. A's is best known for its Benedictine monastery and its political science program. Isabella's mother is a retired special education professor and researcher. She has advocated for youth special education nationally and in a global context.

Gabriel was raised in Puerto Rico, where his father still resides.  His mother’s family owns a coffee plantation in Panama. They discovered and cultivated a world-renowned specialty coffee bean that is acclaimed by connoisseurs- the Geisha bean. His mother is the head of marketing, and Gabriel writes for her.

There are many activities outside of work that Gabriel and Isabella enjoy. Isabella does bullet journaling and is a knitter. In fact, anyone interested in joining a knitting group should reach out to her.  Gabriel is taking up Muay Thai (Thai martial art) and is also interested in the card game Magic the Gathering.

We hope Isabella and Gabriel remain at Hampton Plaza for some time so we can see how their lives unfold. No doubt their lives will be interesting!
