Paul has been at Hampton…
Read MoreJane is another extraordinary person who is part of our Hampton Plaza family. For the past 40 years, Jane has worked with people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. She has worked in “direct care”- living in a household and assisting, supporting, and managing their care. She volunteered as a teenager in a sheltered workshop and at Shepard Pratt in an after-school program. Now, Jane is a staff trainer, teaching others to follow in her footsteps.
She went to Lynchburg College to get her teaching degree, and when the teaching field was saturated back in the eighties, she started working with adults. She has worked for the Arc Baltimore, providing guidance and skill in their group and alternative living programs. She now works for Providence of Maryland in Anne Arundel County.
Originally from Denver, her family moved to Lutherville when she was eight. Her father was an insurance salesman who unfortunately died when Jane was 10. Jane was raised by her mother, who was a very talented legal secretary. Her mother thought volunteering was important, and Jane attributes her interest in working with people with disabilities to her mother.
Jane has a brother who is a Paramedic and Firefighter, a niece, a nephew, two grandnieces, and a grandnephew she is close to. She recently spent time with the whole family at Deep Creek Lake; the children are adorable. Jane also has two cats that are also part of her family!
In her spare time, Jane loves to read. At one time, she was an avid crafter. She plans on volunteering as an ombudsman with the Department of Aging once she retires.
We are so happy to have had Jane at Hampton Plaza for the past five years. She is professional, patient, and kind- qualities we can all admire.
