Flowers are blooming, the sun is shining (most of the time) and Towsonites are out and about, enjoying the springtime. This time of year, the streets outside the doors of Hampton Plaza Apartments are bustling and there’s always something to do.

Here’s a look at what’s happening in downtown Towson this spring:

Madison Reed opens

A new hair color bar – Madison Reed – has opened at 1 East Joppa Road. The salon offers multiple services, including glosses and root touch-ups.

Baltimore County Restaurant Week

Baltimore County Restaurant Week is underway and lasts through May 2. Towson restaurants are offering a variety of different menus and pricing options.

Café Troia’s

Café Troia’s dinner menu, for example, includes some gorgeous options, like a fettucine, Swiss chard and shrimp dish that looks terrific. 

 

Nacho Mama’s

Nacho Mama’s Restaurant Week menu is fun and creative, with dishes like mole cordito and elotes locos – crazy corn that includes Flaming Hot Cheetos as one of its ingredients. 

Barley’s Backyard Uptown

Barley’s Backyard Uptown – which celebrated one year in business on April 20 – is featuring dishes like a sliced ribeye cheesesteak during Restaurant Week. 

C&R Pub

C&R Pub’s menu includes favorites like a Southern cobb salad and a shrimp po’boy. 

Seats on the Street

Outdoor dining on Pennsylvania Ave. is back, along with warmer weather. Participating restaurants include Nacho Mama’s, C&R Pub and CVP. Weather permitting, Pennsylvania will be shut down to traffic, but open for dining, on Sundays from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. 

Towson Gardens Day

On April 29, head to central Towson for Towson Gardens Day, a celebration of all things spring. The event, which takes place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., will include food trucks, live music and vendors including art, jewelry, produce and – of course – plants. 

Lineup at The Recher

Now that live acts are back at The Recher, there’s always something to do in Towson. Upcoming shows include comedy from 98 Rock’s Justin Schlegel on April 24 and a show from Kurt Deemer Band on April 30.

 

Drag Brunches

CVP and Simply Sinful Events host a Drag N Games brunch on Sunday, April 25. The party will include a show, games and baskets to win.

The Point

The Point’s drag brunches, hosted by Robyn Ya’Men, are back for May, with multiple seatings on Saturday, May 15. Tickets for the shows are on sale now.

Showtime Trivia at World of Beer

Trivia is back at World of Beer – starting on April 27. Every Tuesday night, sip a brew or two while you show off your knowledge from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Small Business Saturday at the mall

Shop local at Towson Town Center on Saturday, May 8, during Small Business Saturday – a pop-up market featuring all sorts of local businesses.

The pop-up will take place in the Level 3 Rotunda. It’s a great way to support local makers and home-based businesses.

Mother’s Day Plans

Mother’s Day is on Sunday, May 9 and Towson restaurants are already making plans to help you treat your moms right.

The Point

At The Point, Mother’s Day brunch includes food specials and $20 bottomless brunch drinks.

Donating Blood

On Wednesday, May 12, the American Red Cross will host a blood drive at Towson Town Center. The drive takes place on Level 2 of the mall from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. 

Yappy Hour at The Point

On May 20, grab your favorite pup and head to the restaurant’s patio for Yappy Hour benefiting the Baltimore Humane Society. The event will feature drink and food specials for humans and dogs, with 15% of sales going to the Humane Society and other ways to give back. 

Music at Red Pepper

Lovers of jazz, blues and American classics should stay abreast of happenings at Red Pepper Sichuan Bistro. The downtown Towson restaurant has plans to showcase local vocalists performing classic tunes. 

Perennial Opening

Keep your eyes on Perennial, the new restaurant in the old Cunningham’s space at 1 Olympic Place. The restaurant, helmed by former Cunningham’s chef (and Food Network “Chopped” winner) Jay Rohlfing, is slated to open in May.
