As the weather gets warmer, events and activities heat up in the neighborhood around Hampton Plaza Apartments. From fun new menus at local restaurants to live music and outdoor events, there are plenty of ways to enjoy downtown Towson this spring and summer. Here’s a look at what’s coming up:
Feet on the Street
Towson’s best Friday night block party, Feet on the Street, is back for another fun season. The warm weather party happens each Friday night from June 3 through September 23.
Each week, head to Allegheny Ave. for food, drinks, fun activities, and live music from local cover bands. On June 3, Mzz B & Company takes the stage and on June 10, Jury will perform live. The party kicks off at 6:30 p.m. each week and lasts until 9:30.
Many local spots have updated their menus to include lighter dishes and spring/summer flavors.
At Towson Tavern, grab soft shell crabs while they’re in season.
Perennial has a springtime soft shell dish, too, along with a new slate of springtime cocktails.
CVP’s summer menu includes a bunch of fun new items, like rockfish bites with garlic chili sauce and fried pickles.
Kent House Irish Pub has introduced a new cocktail menu filled with a variety of whiskey-forward drinks.
The Recher has a strong lineup already announced throughout the summer – and more shows and events are sure to be added.
On Saturday, May 21, the theater welcomes local indie pop and rock acts Pat Renny + Ben Dehan, Josey Wails, The Red Eyeballers and Silversity, for a live music video shoot with tickets available to the public.
On June 11, The Recher hosts an Emo Night party featuring favorites from the 2000s.
And on July 9, Rappolla Entertainment brings an all-ages show featuring many local artists, including Hug The Monster and Weathervane.
Warm weather months are prime time to head out for some live music. Towson spots – and not just The Recher – have you covered.
Perennial has live music during happy hour every single day. The act changes daily, though some favorites return frequently.
C&R Pub has local music on tap throughout the summer, including Jon Zorn live on Friday, May 20, and Homestead Band on Friday, June 3.
On May 28, Barley’s Backyard Uptown hosts a fun drag brunch featuring Evon Dior Michelle, Katarina Mirage, Sapphire Dupree, Druex Sidora, and Mama Naytch.
Have you heard about The Point’s Jameson bottle club? You can purchase a bottle of Jameson – one of several types – to keep at the bar in their Jameson cabinet. The bottle is yours alone and every time you visit, you can drink out of it.
The first purchase includes a membership fee; bottles purchased after that first one are a lower price.
The Towson branch of the Baltimore County Public Library hosts frequent events for library patrons of all ages.
For little ones, there are infant storytimes every Tuesday morning and preschool storytimes on Thursdays – both are great opportunities to help kids learn to love reading (and for parents to have a chance to spend time with other adults).
The library also hosts Teen Time events on Mondays and adult events, like a pulled string painting class on May 21 and a public speaking workshop on May 23.
The Towson Farmers’ Market returns for the season on Thursday, June 2. The market, which runs through mid-November, is located on Allegheny Ave. and takes place from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. every Thursday.
Vendors include a fun mix of prepared food, farmed produce and meats, and crafts/art.
