Over the next few weeks, we’ll think of all we have to be grateful for on Thanksgiving, then turn our thoughts to the holiday season, as the Towson tree lights flicker on and local shops and restaurants deck their halls in festive colors.
Though this year looks different this year for Hampton Plaza Apartments residents and people all over the country and world, we still have plenty to celebrate – and many ways to do that in downtown Towson.
Here’s a look at what’s happening over the next few weeks just outside the doors of Hampton Plaza:
Restaurant News
Given the rapidly changing COVID landscape, restaurant guidelines are a moving target. In mid-November, downtown Towson restaurants are still open for both indoor and outdoor dining, but at reduced capacity. Many are also still offering curbside pickup and delivery.
Even with the restrictions, local spots are getting creative and keeping the energy high to offer fun, satisfying and safe dining experiences.
Café Troia
In addition to patio heaters, Café Troia has invested in air purification systems to keep the indoor dining rooms safe.
Towson Tavern
Towson Tavern has a newly updated fall menu – including a bunch of seasonal cocktails that sound terrific.
The Point
On Saturday, Nov. 21, The Point hosts a drag brunch featuring Robyn Ya’Men, Candi Fuentes and Sue Nami. Given current restrictions and the need for safe social distance, seats are limited for the event – so grab your ticket while you still can.
Nacho Mama’s
Nacho Mama’s has a Thanksgiving quesadilla on the menu – just in time to get you ready for the big turkey day.
Thanksgiving Plans
From carryout turkeys to Turkey Bowl viewing parties, Towson restaurants are giving thanks in style.
Charles Village Pub
Charles Village Pub will open early on Thanksgiving Day for a Turkey Bowl viewing party. The doors open at 7:30 a.m. and kickoff is at 10 a.m. This is the 101st Turkey Bowl meeting between Loyola Blakefield and Calvert Hall – it’s a Baltimore tradition that defines the holiday for many.
Cunningham’s Café and Bakery
Cunningham’s Café and Bakery will be open on Thanksgiving Day. The centrally-located café also has a terrific holiday takeaway menu available, with options including a whole roasted turkey, brioche cider stuffing, sauerkraut, and classic pumpkin pie. You can either purchase individual items a la carte or simplify with the purchase of family-style meals including proteins and sides.
Café Troia
Café Troia is open on Thanksgiving and will offer its regular menu as well as a traditional Thanksgiving menu.
From Nov. 20 through Dec. 11, Towson Town Center is partnering with Volunteers of America on a winter clothing drive benefiting those in our community. Donate new coats, hats, scarves, and gloves at the mall to help out your neighbors in need.
Gearing Up for the Holidays
Holiday season starts promptly after the Thanksgiving dishes are done though this year, options to celebrate in Towson look a little different than they did in the past.
Santa will be available for in-person photos at Towson Town Center, starting on Friday, Nov.27. Unlike years past, when North Pole visitors could line up at the mall, this year, reservations are required for Santa visits, and numerous safety precautions will be in place.
The mall also has a virtual Santa visit option in place, if you’d rather see the big guy from the comfort and safety of your apartment.
CVP has a fun lineup of holiday events planned, including a shopping event on Dec. 5, brunch with the Grinch on Dec.12 and a pet brunch with Santa on Dec. 13.
