The scary season is upon us, which means it’s time to make plans to celebrate Halloween. For residents of Hampton Plaza Apartments, getting spooky is simple; tons of businesses within walking distance of the apments have fun events planned.
Whether you’re a parent with kids hoping to dress up and have some fun, an adult in search of a costume party, or you just need to track down a great spot to buy candy (no matter what your age), there’s something for you in downtown Towson.
Here’s a look at a few of the local events and activities that are sure to be a good time:
Sweets & Treats
Halloween season is the time for candy – there’s no doubt about it. If you’re in the market for treats, either to give away to trick-or-treaters or to keep for yourself, local businesses have a few fun options.
If you’re looking for unusual candies to share (or not share) this season, The Fresh Market has you covered, with great trick-or-treat options, like Jelly Belly “kids mix” packs and individually packaged SmashMallow marshmallows.
On Saturday, Oct. 26, Godiva Chocolatier in Towson Town Center will celebrate Pumpkin Day with a special offer: if you buy one Pumpkin Spice Chocolixir – a frothy, sweet drink – you’ll receive a second for half off.
Speaking of pumpkin, you only have from now through Halloween to enjoy the pumpkin bagels at THB Bagels & Deli. Get there while they’re hot!
CeleBOOrate at Build-A-Bear Workshop
On Saturday, Oct. 26, Towson Town Center’s Build-A-Bear Workshop will host lots of fun Halloween-oriented events, including a themed scavenger hunt bingo game and Halloween sticker giveaways. The shop will also have fun Halloween costume options for both the bears and their kid owners, so if you’re still on the hunt for the perfect pint-sized costume, they’ve got you covered.
Halloween Parties around Town
Halloween falls on a Thursday this year which means the celebrations start early.
On Saturday, Oct. 26, starting at 5 p.m., the sophisticated Italian spot Café Troia gets spooky with a fun party (costumes encouraged but not required) featuring “scary-delicious cocktails” plus complimentary hors d’oeuvres. There will be a prize for most creative costume.
The same night, starting at 9 p.m., The Point will host a Halloween party with drink specials, live music from Robyn Bingham Band and a midnight costume contest with prizes for the top three costumes.
On Sunday, Oct. 27, Cunningham’s partners with Whodunnit for Hire for a Clue-themed Murder Mystery Dinner. Though the event, which happens about once a month, isn’t strictly Halloween-themed, getting into character and participating in the murderous mystery fun is definitely in the spirit of the season.
Magical Halloween Morning
On Halloween itself, families are invited to head to the Grand Court on Level 1 of Towson Town Center for a very special Family Fun Day activity. Kids can come in costume and there will be giveaways – plus, “Turner” Dean of Magic will show off some amazing magic skills that are sure to wow guests.
The show begins at 10 a.m. It is geared towards pre-school aged kids but attendees of all ages are welcome to join.
